Rent Video Games online - Things to consider before subscribing

<!-- p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } -->

Before you decide to rent video games online there are a few things to consider. What games are available? How long does it take to mail video games to your door after you select them? How long can you keep the game before you have to return it? There is no reason to subscribe to a rental service until you know the answers to these questions.

How available certain titles are is probably the most important thing to consider before you decide to rent video games online, or decide which service to choose from. Almost every online rental program provides a free trial, so take advantage of this. Sign up for the trial and check which games are currently not available. Usually this means to lookup the newest games (even if you don't plan on renting them), add the game to your queue, and see what the system says for expected date of delivery. In general through the online video game rental services the newest titles won't be available right away.

Most programs have a 1-3 month window before a game is available. The more popular the game is usually the longer it will take before you can rent the video game online. This is something to consider if you really have to play the newest games.

Keep in mind there is a deal here compared to renting games from video stores. When you rent games online you aren't paying for a 3 or 5 day rental. You generally get to keep the game as long as you like. These programs are based on a monthly subscription fee so there are usually no late fees or limits to how long you can keep a game (within reason). In my view this is how video game rental should be. Who wants to rent a game for only a few days? If you are like me you want to spend some time if it happens to be a good title. Sure, you can beat some games in a weekend, but why be limited to that. Spend a month or two playing the game at your leisure. That's how video game renting should be and with the emergence of renting video games online this is how things are now structured.

Another thing to consider is delivery time. How fast will the game be delivered to your door after you select to rent it online? Again, this is something you should test by using one of the free trials. The reason why is that how fast a game is delivered to my door may be different from yours because we probably live in different locations. What you can do is check the distribution centers and see how far they are from where you live. For instance, do you live close to any blockbuster stores? If you do then delivery may be quick. How about gamefly's distribution locations? This would include Texas, Florida, California, and Pennsylvania. If you are close in proximity to those places chances are you will have faster delivery times. But, use the free trails to test since that is the best way to measure things.
