What is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (also known as MW3) is a first-person shooter video game which, like the previous Call of Duty games and is the third in the Modern Warfare series. This newest of renditions is scheduled to be released on November 8th, 2011 for Playstation 3, Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360. A Brief MW3 Synopsis

The story line of MW3 follows directly in the steps of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. You will start the game as the US is invaded by the Russian Federation (which has now expanded its takeover into Europe), and they don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Can you imagine a Russian submarine surfacing in the East River? Or Delta Force soldiers destroying a radar jamming device that has been installed on the very top of the New York Stock Exchange? These are just some of the situations that you will find yourself in as the events of MW3 begin to enfold and, as usual, draw you into their world.

It's not just the story, however. Half of the appeal of MW3 is in the characters and in how they are brought to life with their voice actors. Can you imagine a Task Force Captain voiced by Kevin McKidd or an SAS Captain voiced by Murray? Or how about Toby Maguire as a Delta Force operative named Grinch? Many of the old stand-by characters will be making a comeback, but we'll also be introduced to some new characters. This is only to be expected since MW3 is, of course, a continuation of the Modern Warfare series.

Not only will we once more see Captain John "Soap" MacTavish, but Captain Price, Lieutenant General Sheperd and the Ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov just to name a few. There will also be new characters introduced, such as the Sandman, two new Delta Force operatives that work out of New York City.

Release Expectations

For those already planning on the date for the release of MW3, there are options to be taken into consideration. On this date the game will be released for both the PlayStation3 and Xbox 360 platforms as both Standard and Hardened.

The standard version is the game itself as well as an instruction book. The standard version is the only one that will be available for Microsoft Windows. The Hardened Edition will include not just the game disc, but a host of special options including "special founder status" on Call of Duty: Elite.
